Rail customers advised to not attempt to travel beyond Plymouth between 1400 and 1800

Emergency services will need to close the railway between Plymouth and Liskeard from 1400 to 1800 today to remove an unexploded wartime bomb.

Those travelling towards Devon and Cornwall are advised to avoid attempting to travel beyond Plymouth and to delay their journey. Those travelling from Cornwall are advised to avoid attempting to travel beyond Liskeard and to delay their journey.

The removal of the device will also impact the road network in the area, affecting the ability to provide replacement road transport.

To help those who have already purchased tickets, tickets for travel today through the affected area will be valid later today and up to and including Saturday 24 February.

The line closure may also affect services immediately before and afterwards and customers are advised to check their journey before travelling to avoid being caught out.

If you are affected by the closure, you may be entitled to claim compensation. To find out more or to make a claim visit GWR.com/delay/repay

Our usual refund policy remains in place for those who choose not to travel: please visit https://refunds.gwr.com/ for more information.
