GWR Managing Director Mark Hopwood said: "I am happy to confirm that all of our fares, both regulated and unregulated, are to be kept in line with the retail price index of 1%; the lowest increase for six years.”
“The money raised by Government through fares ensures investment in more trains, better stations and faster services, however anything that keeps fares rises to a minimum is good news for customers and the industry as a whole."
Great Western Railway is committed to continue to invest in the railways, making the improvements that we know our customers want. We’re currently seeing the biggest investment in the network since Brunel so we can offer more trains, more seats, and shorter, more frequent journeys
On average, 97p in every £1 of a customer’s fare goes back into running and maintaining the railway.
What the rises mean for customers (average rise across the board of 1%):
Yearly Season ticket increase:
*All are season ticket prices to London Paddington from stated destination.
