GWR jigsaws are a popular tradition dating back to the 1920s when jigsaws featuring GWR locomotives were sold for just a few shillings from station bookstalls.

Ron Westwater from Plymouth captured the image from Saltash on the Cornwall side of the iconic bridge ahead of the new Intercity Express Trains being launched into service earlier this year.

Ron said:

“I’m thrilled to see the photograph I took of the new GWR Intercity Express Train crossing the Royal Albert Bridge being used for this new jigsaw puzzle. It’s a real honour.”

The Class 802 Intercity Express Trains were built by Hitachi for GWR and entered passenger service on Friday 17 August 2018 bringing more seats, more comfortable journeys and an improved passenger experience.

Waddingtons produced the jigsaws in partnership with GWR; reigniting a popular long-standing railway tradition between the two companies.

The 1,000 piece jigsaws are on sale now for £15.00 from www.gwrsouvenirs.co.uk and are expected to be a popular purchase for passengers looking to enjoy the perfect puzzle!
