Only bring what you can carry and charge your phone: Advice to Glastonbury Festival travellers

Only bring what you can carry, remember to charge your phone if you have an electronic ticket and remember your young person’s rail card is the advice from the company running over 50 extra trains to help revellers attend the Glastonbury Festival 2015.

Part of the festival experience is the journey to and from Castle Cary and to help ensure that passengers enjoy the festival experience First Great Western is issuing the following advice:

Only bring what you can carry.

Space is limited and we will not be able to carry wheelie bins, supermarket shopping trolleys, wheel barrows or other similar luggage aids.

Bring a little patience and allow time for your journey: 

A queuing system will be in place at London Paddington and at Castle Cary – where you will have to cross a bridge (see point one) over the tracks to reach the connecting bus service.

Charge your phone. 

While Castle Cary station and the festival site itself will offer mobile phone charging, to prevent you from being delayed, or from holding up others, remember to charge your phone if you have purchased an electronic ticket. Remember you can save money booking in advance using our phone app.

Remember your rail card.  

Young Person’s discounted tickets are only valid with a supporting Young Person’s Railcard. If you leave it at home you may have to pay to upgrade your ticket. 

Added to the regular hourly service from London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads the additional trains will provide almost 11,000 extra seats each way to take customers to and from the festival between Wednesday 24 June and Monday 29 June.

While services are expected to be busy, passengers may find more space on the following trains from London Paddington:

0715 (Thursday and Friday only) 
0833
1315 (Wednesday only)
1433 (Wednesday and Thursday only)
After 1900

First Great Western is encouraging those going this year to book their train tickets as soon as possible and even offers a CO2 calculator, allowing passengers to find out the emissions saved travelling by train instead of in a car. Castle Cary station car park will be closed throughout the duration of the festival.
