Oldfield Park Train Station to receive revamp
Bath Spa University has teamed up with its Students’ Union, First Great Western, Onboard and Miller Construction to help renovate Bath’s Oldfield Park train station. The team of volunteers will spend the day working at the station on Wednesday 30 October.
Bath Spa University has teamed up with its Students’ Union, First Great Western, Onboard and Miller Construction to help renovate Bath’s Oldfield Park train station. The team of volunteers will spend the day working at the station on Wednesday 30 October.
This is joint community project and volunteers from all five organisations will be involved. The aim of the day is to give the station a new lease of life by weeding, planting flowers, collecting litter, removing stones, rebuilding the compost area and plant beds as well as giving the whole station a general tidy up.
Looking ahead to the project, Emma Weskin Vice-President Welfare at Bath Spa University Students’ Union, commented: “We are really looking forward to getting stuck in on Wednesday and helping give Oldfield Park Station a new lease of life.
“It’s great to be teaming up with First Great Western, Onboard and Miller Construction. Oldfield Park is a popular place to live for many of our students and I know how well-used this station is. To be working alongside Miller Construction, who we have been working very closely with in designing and building our fantastic new student accommodation, is also a great demonstration of our collaborative working with local businesses and organisations.”
Oldfield Park Station Manager Peter Rignall said:
"The communities we serve play such an important part in the railways, helping to provide an attractive and secure environment both at First Great Western’s stations and in the surrounding area.
“We would like to thank the university and, Onboard, and Miller Construction for the enthusiasm with which they embarked on this project, and the co-operation and willingness they have shown to improve Oldfield Park Station.
“There is a real sense of pride in how the area now looks. The station feels an integral part of Oldfield Park and a greater part of the community it serves.”
