GWR warns of reduced parking at Taunton station as improvement work begins
Maintenance to electrical circuits and light fittings in Taunton station multi-storey car park will reduce the number of spaces available until November.
To keep disruption to a minimum and ensure as many bays as possible are available the work will be completed in stages starting this coming Monday 23 September.
The following car park decks (with approximately 60 parking spaces per deck) will be taken out of service as follows:
- Ground floor: Monday 23 September – Friday 04 October 2024
- First floor: Monday 7 October – Friday 10 October 2024
- Second floor: Monday 14 October – Friday 25 October 2024
- Third floor: Monday 28 October – Friday 1 November 2024.
GWR Station Manager Adam Hopkins said:
“This essential maintenance work will reduce the parking available at this busy station and we would like to thank customers in advance for their patience.
“Please allow a little extra time to catch your train, especially from Tuesday to Thursday when the car park is a little busier.”
Vehicles will still be able to circulate through the car park; and the dedicated disabled parking bays, drop off and pick up areas are unaffected throughout the work.
Should the car park be full, the nearest alternative public car park is Somerset Council Kilkenny Car Park, in Clifton Terrace, TA2 7BL. GWR car park season ticket holders may also park in Tiverton Station Overflow 2 car park for no additional charge.
