Great Western Railway (GWR) is excited to announce a partnership with music publication NME for the 2016 festival season, offering specially chosen playlists for five festivals across the GWR network.

An online hub #TracksOnTheTrack (https://www.gwr.com/tracksonthetrack) features Spotify playlists with music recommendations for the festivals chosen by NME journalists and popular bloggers.

Inspiration for the top 20 recommendations were shared by four of NME’s journalists: Dan Stubbs, Sam Moore, Luke Morgan Britton and David Renshaw.

GWR is also delighted to work with UK lifestyle bloggers to get their view of the top acts to see in the flesh this year as well as share any festival memories of their own.

Olivia Jade from Dungarees and Donuts, Paula Norris from The LDN Diaries, Ed Lemont from This Discerning Man, Leanne Morgan from The Dress Diaries and Rosie Tapping from A Rosie Outlook all contributed to the selection in #TracksOnTheTrack.

GWR’s Head of External Communications Dan Panes said:

“We are incredibly privileged to have some of the World’s most renowned music festivals on our network, and what better way to travel to them than by train, listening to recommendations from the music industry’s leading voices. Designed for festival fans and music lovers, GWR’s #TracksOnTheTrack hub means that everyone can get involved in the festival spirit while travelling there on the day.”

Starting with the Glastonbury Festival, GWR will provide 50 additional rail services between Wednesday 22 June and Monday 27 June. A guide to the least in demand rail services will be published soon. Festival goers are advised to book on early trains for the most comfortable journey and to travel light – there is a bus service to take music lovers from the station to the festival site, and luggage space is limited.

NME Commissioning Editor Dan Stubbs says on the #TracksOnTheTrack hub:

“In the months leading up to Glastonbury, the weight of speculation focuses on who’s headlining the Pyramid Stage. This year, each of the three bill-topping acts are big, British and contemporary.” Visit the site to find out more.

GWR is a leading transport provider for the festival season, serving: Glastonbury (Castle Cary Station); Wireless (London Paddington for those travelling from the west); Lovebox (London Paddington); Wilderness (Charlbury and Swindon Station); and Reading.

Additional rail services are provided to help take fans to and from the festival sites, but for the cheapest tickets and the best journey experience GWR recommends you buy before you board at GWR.com.
