Flooding causes major disruption to GWR services
We’re sorry to say that due to flooding in the Royal Wootton Bassett area all lines between Bristol Temple Meads via Bath and Swindon, and Bristol Parkway/South Wales and Swindon, are closed.
The route between Gloucester and Swindon is also closed; this means that we are unable to offer a diversionary route to Bristol Parkway and South Wales.
Network Rail teams across the network are working to minimise disruption, however disruption is expected to continue for the reminder of the day. The severity of the flooding means many roads are blocked, and we are not able to provide alternative transport.
Customers are advised to delay their journey and travel tomorrow. Those with tickets for travel today will be able to use their ticket to travel tomorrow, Saturday 21 October.
Customers who purchased tickets but do not travel can claim a full refund or amend their ticket. Those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
GWR services are being diverted via an alternative route between Bristol Temple Meads/Bath Spa and Reading/London Paddington.

Transport For Wales is carrying passengers between Newport South Wales and Gloucester in both directions until further notice; and CrossCountry is carrying passengers between Bristol Temple Meads and Cheltenham Spa via Bristol Parkway in both directions until further notice.
Arrangements have been made for Great Western Railway rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.
