British singer songwriter Gabrielle Aplin stunned travellers on the 07:15 First Great Western service from London Paddington to Glastonbury as she launched into a stunning solo performance of her chart topper songs Power of Love, Panic Cord, Please Don't Say You Love Me and Home.
British singer songwriter Gabrielle Aplin stunned travellers on the 07:15 First Great Western service from London Paddington to Glastonbury as she launched into a stunning solo performance of her chart topper songs Power of Love, Panic Cord, Please Don't Say You Love Me and Home.
Gabrielle, who herself is performing at the popular festival on Sunday, then returned to Paddington to treat thousands more travellers making the journey to the event with a surprise platform performance.
Hundreds of festival goers, as well as stunned commuters, were lucky enough to capture it on their smartphones and took to social media channels to share. Over 15,000 Glastonbury ticket holders will travel on First Great Western services to and from Castle Cary Station, while Paddington Station sees an average of 100,000 customers every day.
This performance kicks off First Great Western’s Summer Tracks campaign, a series of inspiring, surprise gigs that’ll take place on trains and platforms serving summer festivals on the Great Western network. A range of celebrated talent has been lined up to surprise and delight all.
Gabrielle was thrilled to take part in today’s quirky gig, stating: “Glastonbury has always been one of my favourite festivals and I am so excited about performing this year. It’s an honour to perform to and travel with the crowds making their way to what is the summer’s biggest music event.”

First Great Western has also today announced that its mobile ticketing service which allows customers to use their smart phone as a ticket machine in their pocket is now available to those travelling to and from Glastonbury. Customers can download the application at http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Train-times-and-tickets/Mobile-App for free or from any App Store and instantly purchase rail tickets.
Helping you to get to Glastonbury, First Great Western will run over 50 additional trains to and from Castle Cary Station during the festival, but are warning customers to save space by packing light, as luggage capacity is limited.
Added to the regular hourly service from London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads the additional trains will provide almost 11,000 extra seats each way to take customers to and from the festival.
Leave early to ensure one though, as our earlier morning trains such as 0715 or 0833, are in less demand than those later in the day. Customers are also advised to allow plenty of time for their journey as a queuing system will be in place at stations to help passengers to board trains in safety.
