First Great Western is delighted to announce the launch of three additional services to help passengers travel between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central in the new timetable, which started on Sunday 14 December.

Listening to feedback from our customers, the three additional services will leave Bristol Temple Meads, calling at Filton Abbey Wood, Severn Tunnel Junction, Newport and Cardiff Central.

FGW Development Manager for Wales Mark Youngman said:

“Responding to our passenger’s needs, we are delighted that we are able to run these extra services on Sundays, helping you to travel between Bristol and Cardiff.

“We recognise the key role that rail travel has in supporting local communities and the economy, and we are confident that they will be valued by the communities that we serve.

The extra services depart at 0848, 1048 and 1248.

Chair of the Severn Tunnel Action Group David Flint stated that passenger numbers had risen by over 5% in Cardiff and said:

“This is great news for passengers and will allow those working in Cardiff on a Sunday morning even more opportunity to catch the train - supporting the continuing growth being experienced at the station.”
