The offer will allow anyone with a 16 to 25 Railcard to buy Advance Purchase (AP) tickets to travel anywhere on the Great Western network for 50% off the AP fare price; saving as much as 92.5% off the walk up, anytime, fare.

The saving will allow travel between Penzance to London Paddington for as little as £11.75 each way, or from just £7.50 between Bristol and London.

For example you can travel between London Paddington and:

  • Bristol from £7.50
  • Oxford from £3
  • Exeter from £13.75
  • Plymouth from £10.25
  • Bath from £7.25
  • Penzance from £11.75

Available to purchase from today to Saturday 31 December, and for travel until Tuesday 31 January 2017, tickets are for sale online at www.gwr.com/students, and without booking card fees.

The discount will not be available from GWR ticket offices or from ticket vending machines.

GWR Managing Director Mark Hopwood said:

“With the start of the new academic year and the return to university, we recognise the key role rail travel can play in helping to access education.

“We hope that these discounts will help students of all ages to travel to and from university, or to visit family and friends, when planned in advance.”

16 to 25 Railcards are available to those 16 to 25 years old and full-time students over 26. If you are over 25 the Railcard can be bought up to and including the day before your 26th birthday unless you are in full-time education, saving a third off standard class rail tickets. This offer entitles students to an extra 17% off when booked online.
