GWR launches summer offer to help families take advantage of the train

Great Western Railway is to launch a Kids go for a £1 offer during August to help families in London and the Thames Valley, and surrounding area, to travel into London.

Save over £50, or up to 62%

The offer will allow an adult purchasing an Off-Peak Day Return to be able to travel with up to four children aged under 16 for just £1 each, saving as much as 62%, or a total of £52.20*. Those who currently hold a valid season ticket will also be able to take advantage of the offer.

Available now until Sunday 28 August, tickets can be purchased online through www.GWR.com or from GWR ticket offices. But, please note that the offer will not be available from ticket vending machines.

GWR Managing Director Mark Hopwood said:

“The summer holidays are a great time to take advantage of a day out and all the attractions our capital city has to offer.

“While we already have many great value fares, this offer will really help families be able to take the train, allowing them to visit some of the great places GWR serves.”

When and where can the ticket be used:

  • Valid on GWR services only from Oxford; Didcot; Bedwyn; Basingstoke (via Reading); Guildford (via Reading)
  • Valid Off-Peak Day Return travel only towards London, which are services arriving into London after 10am and returning from London before 4pm or after 7.15pm. No time restrictions apply on weekends
  • Valid in Standard only
  • Railcard discounts still applicable; but the offer is not open to advance purchase fares
